MY PHILOSOPHY: We are in this together. You are giving me a number of opportunities to help you. It will be
up to you to take advantage of them.
My first 'opportunity' is to help you learn as much as possible about this very interesting subject/skill set as I
car . If you do so, you will receive a good grade. If not, then you will not. The question is. how can I help you
earn a good grade (i.e. learn the material)? I cannot read the chapters for you nor do your work for you. You
have to do that. I car. a r d will, however, help those who want to help themselves, provided they have read the

you have whether via email or by cell, set up personal visits when helpful, ano work with you every way I can.
That is why I have listed my cell phone number as well as my personal email address. That is also why I have
extended office hours ("by appointment") - if you want to visit with me all you have to do is ask.
Another "opportunity" I have is Io prepare you for lhe "real world" by giving you lhe lools and feedback you will
neeo to succeed. You will learn how to research and communicate Accounting information as well as learn
important soft skills in our class. You will be given the opportunity to volunteer with a VITA organization and.
possibly, compete in a student case competition (if any are available), which will prepare you for the skills you
will reeo to successfully work with others.
A third opportunity I will be offering will be the chance to meet potential employers. We will have Partners from
some of the large CPA firms and CAE/CFOs from public companies coming to speak and interact with you l/?rs
semester. You will be given their email addresses. It is up to you to get in touch with them if you want to
introduce yourself and/or ask them for an interview. Be sure a r d include resumes with you requests!
Finally, I have the 'opportunity' to help you when you are ready to graduate and beyond. Your success is my
success, and I want each and every one of you to be successful! To this end. I encourage (and reward)
participation, good behavior and creativity. I want you to be the best you can be Beyond this semester, I will
continue to be here for you. I am available to offer you career advice, advice on courses to take, provide you
