Histology - Epithelium Classification
A single layer of cells that appears multilayered due to varying nuclear positions. All cells contact the basement membrane; commonly found in the respiratory tract with cilia and goblet cells. Serous cells are secretory epithelial cells with round nuclei and darkly stained cytoplasm in H&E. They produce watery, enzyme-rich secretions and are often found in salivary glands and the pancreas.
