MALFUNCTION JUNCTION1Malfunction Junction Case StudyCJA/454Many times in our communities the people within those communities havetrouble getting along. This can come by their actions in social settings or in privatesettings but for whatever reason it is humannature to disagree. Often people disagreewith how they feel a society should behave or how they should have to behave withinthe confines of that society. In order to protect the innocent people who live withinthat society laws were invented to protect them from those who would choose not tobehave in a manner that society deems fit. As time has passed our law enforcementofficers have changed and evolved to adapt to our society as it has changed andevolved. In this paper we will take a look into problems that could arise fromtraditional thinking officers and supervisors still working in the organization from thecase study. We will use the seven elements of police organizational structuredescribed in our chapter, and answer where it appears that this would be needed toreorganize an agency, and especially to accommodate COPPS. We will try toanticipate that the officers’ workload would be reduced or increased under the newCOPPS strategy. We will attempt to explain different types of information that couldbe used to evaluate the progress of our communities policing initiatives.Theuse of theS.A.R.A.
