"Report Types" Please respond to the following:
•Choose one of the scenarios listed here. Select one appropriate report type for the scenario and
explain why this report type fits the scenario, who the audience would be, and whether or not the
report needs to be distributed externally or internally.
◦A Company’s Chief Financial Officer has suggested to Human Resources that the group cut 100 jobs to
anticipate another economic downturn.
This type of report type should be an internal report within the organization, mainly the major decision
makers of the company. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of a corporation knows the momentary
stability of the company and should make suggestions and recommendations to the CEO Chief Executive
Officer of the corporation in question. The audience that this matter should be brought to, is the Human
Resources Department, usually the board of directors have their say so in this matter, because the
down-turn could affect their return on investment.
During an economic downturn a firm must carefully consider its options and assess the feasibility and
applicability of cost-reduction alternatives before deciding on layoffs. It is critical for an organization to
factor in the concept of cost-reduction and to recognize the specific cost-reduction stage that
characterizes the firm’s current business position and environment. A firm needs to determine the
expected duration of the business downturn, and In order to do so successfully, the executive manager
must know exactly where the firm is in its cost-cutting stage. A firm’s cost-reduction stage, by definition,
refers to the timeframe the company requires to be able to reduce operational expenditures
successfully.

"The Number 1 Fear” Please respond to the following:
•Describe the last time that you had to speak in front of a group in as much detail as you can recall,
including any physiological or psychological responses you experienced.
The last time I had to speak in front of a major group, was while deployed to Afghanistan. This group of
staff personnel covered all of the main operating areas within the deployment region of Afghanistan.
The rankings of these individuals were from 4 star generals down to full bird colonels. The report was
about Retrograding (Removal of Equipment) equipment out of Afghanistan back to the United States,
due to the drawdown of troops. The physiological effect was, that I was speaking to staff personnel that
were going to brief the pentagon and with this information they would later brief the President of the
United States on the progress of the drawdown in Afghanistan. (The amount of pressure was great and
there were times when I felt like I needed to step aside and let someone else handle this job) The
