The three pieces of legislation that have been critical in defining the rights of management and
unions are:
Norris-LaGuardia Act
Taft-Hartley Act
Landrum-Griffin Act
Norris-LaGuardia Act:
This legislation was passed in 1932. Due to this legislation, it is not easy for the businesses to
take the orders from the court when these orders are related to ban strikes, and union
membership drives. In order to setup a union, restricting the unfair labor practices, the
procedures are established by the National Labor Relations Act. The National labor Relations
Act has also provided the federal agencies for the National Labor Relations Board. This Act is
also known as Wagner Act. In order to set a minimum wage and payment for the overtime
work, government is permitted by the Fair Labor Standards Act which is enacted by the
Congress in 1938 (Enhancing Union-Management Relations).
Taft-Hartley Act:
The need of restraints emerged the third legislation known as Taft-Hartley Act which is also
known as labor-Management Relations Act and this Act was established in 1947. In order to
maintain the balance between the union power and management authority, Taft-Hartley Act has
