In S p a i n , the S p a n i s h E m p i r e had control of the P h i l i p p i n e s
and m i n e d silver in tne A m e r i c a s In tne beg nning S p a n let
the c o r q u s t a d o r s govern tne l a n d s they nad c o n q u e r e d but
later on w a s n ' t s u c c e s s f u l . In order to c o n t r o l its new e m p i r e ,
S p a i n created a formal system of g o v e r n m e n t to rule its
c o l o n i e s . F e r d i n a n d II a c t u a l l y ruled S p a i n in 1492. The type
of g o v e r n m e n t was consu ted with m a n y m o n a r c h s .
In Portugal the P o r t u g u e s e colonized Brazil and went on
e x p e d i t i o n s . P o r t u g u e s e e m p i r e was also b a s e d on the kings
ruling over the p e o p l e .
