Social Issue and workplace3In order to preventsexual harassment at workplace, the key aspect that is needed is thepromotion and development of written laws. Either the laws should be incorporated in thegeneral workplace harassment policy or it should be implemented as a stand-alone sexualharassment policy. The laws on sexual harassment should include the following points;It should clearly state that the organization will under all circumstances ensure that theworking environment being provided to employees is free from sexual harassment and strictdisciplinary action will be taken against the employees who will break the law. It shoulddemonstrate that the organization will commit to a comprehensive strategy for the elimination ofsexual harassment from the workplace (Basu, 2003).Under these laws, the organization should aim at creating a working environment whichhas no room for sexual harassment and where members of the staff are treated with courtesy,dignity and respect. Training and awareness raising strategies should be implemented in order toensure that all the employees know their responsibilities and rights. All the employees at theworkplace should be treated in a fair, sensitive, confidential and timely manner.The laws should provide an effective procedure for the complaints based on theprinciples that the procedure will be implemented in a fair manner. They should also guaranteecomplete protection from any kind ofvictimizationor reprisals. Appropriate standards ofconducts should be promoted at all times in the organization. Thebehaviorthat encourages thebreach of the sexual harassment policy should be reported immediately. Employees should beencouraged to do so (Basu, 2003).
