Riordan Manufacturing: HR SystemDesign Plan
Introduction
Like any organization, the most important assets of Riordan Manufacturing are its
people. While many of the processes have been automated as technology has increased
productivity in Riordan’s industry, people are still the ones making decisions and ensuring
quality. To maintain the competitive advantage of knowledgeable, loyal, and dedicated people,
Riordan will be implementing an automated HR system. This HR system will help more
effectively and accurately track employee’s time, record time off, maintain employee files,
recruit and hire new employees, and track certifications and training.
Because there are many different uses for HR data, a lot of attention must be paid to
making sure each user is able to use the system to do their job, but that sensitive information is
protected. It is also critical that the system have adequate assurance that the system will
actually do what it is supposed to do and be accessible all of the time, as downtime is always
costly in the manufacturing environment.
This document will discuss the design of the system and the architecture that must be in
place to ensure the system fulfills its objectives. Flowcharts for key processes are included to
present a graphical picture of what the primary purposes of the system will be.
