While many of the processes have been automated as technology has increasedproductivity in Riordan’s industry, people are still the ones making decisions and ensuringquality. To maintain the competitive advantage of knowledgeable, loyal, and dedicated people,Riordan will be implementing an automated HR system. This HR system will help moreeffectively and accurately track employee’s time, record time off, maintain employee files,recruit and hire new employees, and track certifications and training.Because there are many different uses for HR data, a lot of attention must be paid tomaking sure each user is able to use the system to do their job, but that sensitive information isprotected. It is also critical that the system have adequate assurance that the system willactually do what it is supposed to do and be accessible all of the time, as downtime is alwayscostly in the manufacturing environment.This document will discuss the design of the system and the architecture that must be inplace to ensure the system fulfills its objectives.
