Statistical Analysis and Z-Score Calculations: Week Two Assignment
For each of the three scenarios (Live-in-Country, Horn Honking Example 1, and Horn Honking Example
2), create a frequency table and calculate the mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation
of the data. Additionally, using the data from Scenario 2, demonstrate your understanding of z-scores by
converting raw scores to z-scores and z-scores to raw scores. Show all your work and round to two
decimal places.
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT: WEEK TWO
This assignment has two parts. For the first part, you will have three scenarios that follow. For each,
create a a) Frequency Table (can be a Grouped Frequency Table if you choose). Then calculate the b)
mean, c) median, d) mode, e) variance and f) standard deviation. The formulas for the mean and the
variance are explained on the Major Formulas Handout that I asked you to print off the first day of class.
I have provided step-by-step instructions for calculating the variance at the end of the first part. The
second part asks you two demonstrate an understanding of z scores by a) transforming raw scores to z
scores and b) transforming z scores to raw scores. That formula is also in the Major Formulas Handout.
Please show your work. Round your answers to two digits after the decimal. These assignments will be
graded in the following manner:
0 points = Assignment not turned in
2.5 points = Assignment turned in but answers are incomplete and/or work not shown
5 points = Assignment turned in with all work shown but majority of answers are incorrect
7.5 points = Assignment turned in with all work shown with some incorrect answers
10 points = Assignment turned in with all work shown and all answers are correct
