(Word count: 1000 - 1500) Meeting Human Services Challenges with Technology 2 2 The human service field face s challenges in many areas including adequate fundraising, retaining qualified staff, and implementing training prog rams for staff. In addition human service professional s may have difficulty in the delivery of services for clients in rural areas. Technology that includes software programs, computers, handheld devices, and resources from other organizations allow professionals to meet the growing demands of the profession . Implementing technology can allow human service professional s to address the challenges with technological tools for a resolution and take control of the challenges with a head - on approach. Challenges Three issues that can affect the human service field are receiving adequate fundraising, find ing qualified staff, and offering services to individuals in rural areas. Fundraising is an important aspect of many hum an service agencies because the agencies depend on the donations to run their centers. However, some organizations may not know where to start fundraising, how to keep their current donors, or how to gain new donors. Another fundraising issue is found when centers are trying to keep track of their donor information for previous and upcoming events. These organizations may also have difficulty transferring the information about donations in reports that are share d with the stakeholders or board members. Another issue is for human resource s departments to find and retain qualified staff members while lowering the employee turnover rate. The human resource s departments are also responsible for finding skill building and training programs for organization employees to maintain their education level. High turnover rates and extra training programs can cost the organization a large amount of money that could be spent elsewhere if these issues are solved.
