I. Basic Information
A. Meals on Wheels
1. Meals on Wheels is a program that delivers hot meals to the elderly. It
is designed to make sure that the elderly get at least one good, hot meal a day.
This program started back during World War II. It originated from a group
called Women’s Volunteer Services for Civil Defense. This group would
deliver meals to the servicemen in the war.
B. Craniosacral Manipulation
1. Craniosacral Manipulation is a gentle healing approach to pain and
discomfort. It works through the slight and obvious palpable rhythm that is
active and emanating from the patient’s brain through their spinal cord.
2. This is a bona fide and accredited study first expressed during the
early 1900’s by William Sutherland, who was an American Osteopathic
physician.

1. This program provide care for all our returning Veterans

1. Meals on Wheels is a nationally accredited organization through the
Meals on Wheels Association of America.
a) Qualifications for Meals on Wheels vary in each community and
programs. A waiting list is maintained because of the limitations in the
program to provide services. Those that the service is needed the most
will be taken first.
2. Review Process
a) Once a person is able to provide for themselves they are removed
from the program.
3. Staff
a) Meals on Wheels is a volunteer program. The individuals
delivering food must have a valid driver's license and can either use
their own vehicle to make the deliveries or in some cases a van is
available to use. The volunteers are of all ages.
b) Volunteers can sit and visit for a brief time period. They do not
have much time because of other meals that need to be delivered. The
volunteers should not be doing household chores for the consumers or
transporting the consumers. They are not paid staff.
4. There are costs involved with this program. The cost of the program
or suggested donation varies for each individual.
