BUS 610 Week 3 DQ 1 Self Esteem and Self Efficacy Self-esteem is a belief about how a person evaluates his or her self-worth as part of an overall self-evaluation (Baack, 2012). Self-efficacy is a person’s belief about his or her ability to successfully complete a task (Baack, 2012). Since self-esteem is seen as an overall self- evaluation, self-efficacy would be included in that evaluation. A person with high self-esteem may be more willing to take risks based on perceptions of personal talents and abilities. An example of an internal or external force that impacts my self-efficacy would be my prior experience. Knowing that I have successfully completed a task before gives me confidence that I can complete that same task again or one that is similar to it. Knowing that I have successfully received my Bachelor’s degree has given me the confidence to believe that I can get my Master’s degree. Baack, D. (2012). Organizational behavior.
